UCLA Can’t Shoot Past St. Mary’s, 53-52

UCLA started a three-game trip by losing to St. Mary’s, 53-52, at Moraga. The Bruins (2-2) were led by Nikki Blue, who scored 17 points, but made only five of 19 shots, including one of seven from three-point range. In all, the Bruins shot only 33.9% and made only three of 18 three-point shots. Monica Mertle led the Gaels (4-2), with 18 points.

No. 5 Texas Tech 77, Wyoming 26 -- The Red Raiders (8-0) held the Cowboys (0-4) without a basket for the first nine minutes of the second half at Lubbock, Texas, and limited them to 10 points in the second half, two more than the NCAA record for fewest points in a half.

No. 11 Georgia 72, North Carolina State 58 -- Marquetta Dickens and Terah James made successive three-point baskets for the Wolfpack (3-3) that cut a deficit to 51-42 with 8:39 left. But the Bulldogs (5-1) took control at Athens, Ga., with a 12-1 run.

No. 12 Kansas State 94, Saint Louis 54 -- Megan Mahoney had 12 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds to lead the Wildcats (5-2) past the Billikens (5-2) in the championship game of the Wildcat Classic at Manhattan, Kan.

No. 20 Oregon 62, Colorado State 50 -- Joy Jenkins made a three-point basket to give the Rams a 46-45 lead with 6:14 left at Portland, but the Ducks (6-1) went on an 8-0 run and finished by scoring 17 of the final 21 points.

No. 21 Texas Christian 67, Arkansas 62 -- Tracy Wynn made four free throws in the final 22 seconds of overtime to give the Horned Frogs (5-0) the win over the Razorbacks (4-2) at Fort Worth.

No. 22 Rutgers vs. Temple -- The game at Piscataway, N.J., was postponed because of inclement weather. No makeup date was set.

No. 24 Michigan State 55, Kent State 48 -- Rene Haynes made a three-point basket with 7:22 left to give the Spartans (5-1) a 47-43 lead. After the Golden Flashes (2-2) cut the lead to one, Julie Pagel made a three-point basket with 4:17 left to increase the lead to 50-46.
