Man’s Remains Found Inside Burning Van

The charred remains of a man were found in a van that was burning near a drainage channel about 2 a.m. Friday.
The van was parked near Wadsworth Avenue and East 108th Street. Nearby residents told firefighters they heard an explosion and saw a vehicle in flames. Firefighters discovered the body in the passenger side.
Police said that the van was registered to a South Los Angeles couple, and that it appeared to have been parked on the dirt road for some time.
Police don’t know who the man was or what started the fire.
