Skeletons Dug Up From Former Military Base

About 10 human skeletons were exhumed from the grounds of a former military base in western Guatemala used during the country’s 1960-96 civil war, said Erick Duque of the Guatemalan Forensic Anthropology Foundation.
The National Commission of Guatemalan Widows believes that as many as 200 victims of military counterinsurgency raids are buried at the site.
Fredy Peccereli, director of the foundation, said many of the skeletons bore signs of torture, with wires or ropes around their wrists or necks.
