Intersection Crash Kills Woman, 65

A Newport Beach woman was killed when the car she was riding in collided with a van at a busy intersection.
Evelyn Munoz, 65, died Saturday at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana about four hours after the accident, police said. She was a passenger in a Mercedes 300 SDL driven by her husband, Gregory, when the car collided with a Dodge Caravan driven by a 16-year-old whom police did not name.
According to a police report, the Munozes’ car was traveling west at 12:15 p.m. on Main Street when it turned left onto southbound Von Karman Avenue, colliding with the Caravan, which was traveling east on Main.
The accident was under investigation, and witnesses with information are asked to call Irvine police at (949) 724-7000.
