6 Boat Hijackers Get 7- to 10-Year Sentences
From Times Wire Reports
Six Cubans who hijacked a boat to get to the United States received prison terms of seven to 10 years, said a court spokesman in the communist nation.
The six were among 12 people repatriated last month after President Fidel Castro’s government assured Washington that they would get no more than 10 years in jail. The other six were released last week.
Cuban exiles in Florida were furious that the 12 were repatriated three months after Cuba executed three ferry hijackers.
