From Times Wire Reports
Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, in a rare visit to Kashmir, called for talks with Pakistan over the disputed region. Behind bulletproof glass, Vajpayee told a cheering crowd of about 10,000, mostly supporters of the Jammu and Kashmir state government, that violence was no answer.
“Guns will not solve the matter, but brotherhood will,” Vajpayee said. India has said it will talk only after Pakistan ends its support for Muslim militants fighting Indian rule in Kashmir.
