Animal Control Chief Targets Fears Over Fees

The director of Los Angeles County’s Animal Care and Control Department has asked people who think they have been overcharged for animal licenses to contact the department.
Department employees who were quoted in a recent San Gabriel Valley Tribune story said they were pressured to overcharge pet owners.
“I wanted people to know if they felt they were overcharged, to call our office and we’ll investigate,” said Marcia Mayeda, the department’s director.
Mayeda said that of the five complaints that have been investigated since Saturday, no overcharging was found.
