More Americans File for Jobless Benefits

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits last week climbed to the second highest level in a year.
States received 442,000 applications for jobless insurance, up 30,000 from a week earlier, the Labor Department said. The total reached 443,000 in the last week of March, the highest since the week ended April 13, 2002. The less-volatile four-week moving average rose to 424,750, the highest since the week ended May 4.
