Forensic experts have found a mass grave in a 300-foot-deep gorge in northwestern Bosnia-Herzegovina and have begun exhuming remains, an official said.
The grave was found this week near Tihotina, about 130 miles northwest of Sarajevo, the capital.
“We exhumed the first five bodies--all with tied hands,” said Jasmin Odobasic, deputy head of the Muslim Commission for Missing Persons.
Odobasic said he believed the bodies are those of Muslims killed by Serbs at the beginning of the 1992-95 Bosnian war. About 40 bodies were believed to be in the grave, Odobasic said.
