No. 3 Hokies Take to Air on Temple
Bryan Randall threw a 32-yard touchdown pass on the last play of the third quarter to lift No. 3 Virginia Tech over Temple, 20-10, on Saturday at Blacksburg, Va.
The Hokies (8-0 overall, 3-0 Big East Conference), whose offense has been dominated by tailbacks Lee Suggs and Kevin Jones, led, 10-3, when Randall passed to Doug Easlick over the middle as he crossed into the end zone.
It was only the fifth touchdown pass of the season for Randall, who also threw two interceptions and fumbled once. Randall completed 13 of 20 passes for 146 yards.
Temple (3-5, 1-2) held Lee Suggs to 47 yards in 19 carries and Jones to 72 yards in 17 carries.

David Abdul kicked a 42-yard field goal in overtime after tying it with a 30-yarder with five seconds left in regulation as Pittsburgh (6-2, 3-0) scored a 19-16 victory over Boston College (4-3, 0-3) at Pittsburgh. Boston College had a chance to tie the game in overtime, but Sandro Sciortino’s 39-yard field-goal attempt was wide left.... Scott McBrien threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Maryland (6-2, 2-1) won its fifth straight with a 45-12 victory over Duke (2-7, 0-5) at Durham, N.C.... Dave Ragone set a Louisville (5-3, 3-1) record with 18 straight completions and threw a career-high five touchdown passes as the Cardinals rolled to a 44-20 victory over East Carolina (2-5, 2-1) at Louisville, Ky. Ragone completed 23 of 32 passes for 352 yards. The 18 consecutive completions broke the record of 17 set by Chris Redman against Tulane in 1998.... J.P. Losman threw for a season-high 329 yards and five touchdowns, and Mewelde Moore became Tulane’s leading career rusher as the Green Wave (6-3) rolled to a 51-30 victory over Navy (1-7) at New Orleans.... DeMarco McCleskey rushed for 101 yards, and scored three touchdowns in the first half to lead Cincinnati (3-5, 2-2) to a 48-10 victory over visiting Memphis (2-6, 1-4)....
