What: “The 30 Most Memorable Moments in Baseball History†videotape and DVD
Producer: Major League Baseball productions and Q Video
Price: $14.95 (videotape), $19.95 (DVD)
The producers of this 1-hour 10-minute videotape and 2-hour DVD had a difficult task, fitting 30 stories into one show. They succeeded.
The result is a series of entertaining and informative vignettes of those 30 most memorable moments in baseball history, as selected by a panel of baseball historians, writers, executives and celebrities.
These are the same greatest moments announced, in chronological order, at the All-Star game at Milwaukee in July.
The top five, beginning with No. 5, will be announced during the pregame show for Game 4 of the World Series on Wednesday.
The moments have already been featured as part of the five-part series carried by ESPN.
But now the moments are all together on one tape or DVD, which will be in stores today.
The show opens with Christy Mathewson and his three shutouts in the 1905 World Series. Other moments follow chronologically through modern-day feats such as the 1998 home run race between Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa, and Barry Bonds’ 73 home runs last season.
The DVD has bonus coverage.
