Bum Rap
As offensive as I find bum fighting, what I feel is more offensive is our treating the homeless as children needing our protection by prosecuting the filmmakers (“Fight Videos Spark Outcry, Charges,†Sept. 29). Why is it permissible for persons to do disgusting things on reality TV shows, but homeless persons are not being permitted to earn extra money? We don’t prevent non-homeless persons from participating in martial arts, boxing, wrestling and kick-boxing. If we are really concerned about the homeless, allow bum fighting but require the filmmakers to pay a decent wage and cover medical costs.
