Hijack Suspect Is Released From Jail
A man arrested with a gun in his luggage as he boarded a London-bound plane was released from Swedish custody, as prosecutors admitted they did not have evidence that he intended to hijack the flight.
Kerim Chatty, 29, was held for four weeks on suspicion of planning a hijacking and illegal possession of a weapon.
Chief prosecutor Thomas Haeggstroem said he had not ruled out the hijacking charge but decided there was not enough evidence to keep Chatty in jail as the probe continues. However, Chatty must remain in the Stockholm area and report regularly to police.
