Organization Announces Philanthropy Awards
The Santa Barbara/Ventura counties chapter of the Assn. of Fund-raising Professionals has announced the winners of its 2002 philanthropy awards.
The Ventura County honorees are E.J. Harrison & Sons, Joan Kemper of Ojai and Jeanette Martinez of Westlake.
The Ventura-based E.J. Harrison, which handles residential recycling and trash pickup, was named Philanthropist of the Year for its support of a wide variety of organizations and events.
Kemper was named Volunteer of the Year for her service in the Ojai and Ventura areas. Kemper works with the Ojai Valley Community Hospital Foundation, where she serves on the board of directors and is chairwoman of fund development.
Martinez received a special humanitarian award for donating one of her kidneys to a co-worker. She is director of programs for the National Kidney Foundation.
The winners will be honored at Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo on Friday.
