Pilot Who Died in Crash Was Temecula Man

A pilot who was killed when his Cessna plane snapped power lines and crashed into a hill in bad weather was identified Saturday as Dennis Beitel, a pilot from Temecula who was certified to fly in such conditions, coroner’s officials said.
Beitel, 58, was flying alone when he lost control of his single-engine craft and slammed into the hill about 4:40 a.m. Friday near the Riverside Freeway at Coal Canyon Road, officials said.
