Fewer finding homes affordable

The percentage of Californians who can afford to buy a median-priced home fell to 28% in September, down 5 percentage points from a revised 33% for the same period a year ago, according to the California Assn. of Realtors.
Based on CAR’s index, San Diego County was the least affordable county in Southern California, with only 21% of households able to afford a median-priced home, down 4 percentage points from a year earlier. Orange County was the second-least affordable county, at 23%, down 7 percentage points from a year ago.
In Los Angeles County, affordability was 30%, down from 35% a year earlier.
