British Unveil Plans to Loosen Gambling The British government unveiled plans to free gambling from decades-old regulations, a change supporters hope and detractors fear will bring glitzy Las Vegas-style casinos to dowdy British seaside resorts. Under Britain’s 1968 Gaming Act, casinos operate as private clubs and cannot provide live entertainment or serve alcohol at gambling tables.
