New Orleans Tourist Zone Having a Blast With Baths

MADRID — NEW ORLEANS--This city’s French Quarter, known for Bourbon Street and raucous revelry, is getting daily baths.
Reacting to complaints from tourists, hotels are funding a new alliance of residents, businesses and government that is deploying small blue tractors armed with high-pressure washing machines. The vehicles cruise the neighborhood in the early morning hours, blasting away spilled cocktails and anything else in their path.
Complaints about cleanliness increased among tourists who were dissatisfied with their trip to New Orleans: 16.1% said they were unhappy because the city is unclean, up from 12.8% in 1999.
