Repairs to Begin on Quake-Damaged Sewers

Repairs on earthquake-damaged sewers will begin this week as part of the Los Angeles Department of Public Works’ accelerated sewer repair program, a 12-year effort to renew city sewers.
The program was designed to repair sewers damaged by the 1994 Northridge earthquake.
Individual projects under the program, which can cost from $300,000 to $900,000, are funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state Office of Emergency Services.
The West Valley project will involve sewer repairs in an area bounded by Victory Boulevard on the north, Ventura Boulevard on the south, Topanga Canyon Boulevard on the east and Woodlake Avenue on the west.
