What happened: For such a great comeback--coming back from 19 points down to tie it with Errick Craven’s clutch three-pointer from the corner with seven seconds left--it ended up as nothing but a bitterly disappointing loss for the Trojans. You could build a case that it was their worst NCAA tournament defeat ever, not by their margin of defeat, but the fact that they lost to a much lower-ranked team. Maybe the Trojans used all their strength just getting back in the game, because they missed some easy shots to start the overtime when momentum was clearly in their favor. Just knock down a couple of easy shots and the Seahawks might have woken up to the fact that 13th seeds weren’t supposed to be so close to winning.

Not in the box score: How close did Craven come to stealing the ball with a minute left in overtime and a sure-fire dunk waiting for him at the other end? The answer: Very close. And one more thing. What was the hangtime that Stewart Hare had with that dunk that made the score 87-83 in overtime? Even though they might have the ugliest uniforms of any team in the tournament, the Seahawks never once lost their poise.

Winning number: Wilmington, the sixth-highest scoring team in the CAA (67.1), goes for about 26 more than it averages.

Wrong number: 0--The number of games Clancy has left at USC. For such a great player, he deserves more.

Leading scorers: Wilmington--Callahan, 11. USC--Clancy, 15.

Leading rebounders: Wilmington--Callahan 5. USC--Clancy 4, Granville 4.
