Latino Group Opposes Parks’ Bid for 2nd Term
From Times Staff Reports
The Latin American Law Enforcement Assn. announced its opposition Monday to a second term for beleaguered Los Angeles Police Chief Bernard C. Parks.
Parks also is opposed by the Police Protective League, which represents LAPD officers, but supported by the Oscar Joel Bryant Foundation, a black officers group.
Leaders of the Latino group said they are unhappy about the LAPD’s progress under Parks in several areas, particularly the number of promotions of Latino officers to senior command positions.
