Dallas-based developer Hillwood Investments and Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based Kohl’s department store will break ground Wednesday on a 651,880-square-foot Kohl’s warehouse in San Bernardino. The warehouse will be built at Hillwood’s 2,000-acre AllianceCalifornia distribution center at the former Norton Air Force Base.
Hillwood, owned by Ross Perot Jr., is the master developer of the former airport land under an agreement with the San Bernardino International Airport Authority and the Inland Valley Development Assn.
The Kohl’s warehouse, on a 60-acre site, is a step in the company’s expansion to the West Coast.
It will be the first major construction at the airport development since the city of San Bernardino took over the property in 1994.
