* “Central Station’s” producer Arthur Cohn, director Walter Salles and cinematographer Walter Carvalho have regrouped to create “Behind the Sun,” an austere yet rewarding parable on the futility of revenge and the redemptive power of a self-sacrificing love. Set in rural Brazil in 1910, it tells of a lethal, long-running feud between two families into which the modern world at last intrudes with unexpected consequences. Carvalho’s superb cinematography, Antonio Pinto’s score and a dedicated cast and crew admirably sustain this poetic and uncompromising film. With Ravi Ramos Lacerda, Rodrigo Santoro, Flavia Marcon Antonio and Jose Dumont. In Portuguese, with English subtitles.
