Fire Blamed on Jeep of Forest Service Worker

A 2,000-acre fire at Ft. Hunter Liggett in southern Monterey County earlier this week was started by a U.S. Forest Service employee’s personal Jeep, base and agency officials said.
The fire resulted from a “mechanical failure” in the vehicle, and the employee tried to put the fire out before it spread to brush, said John Bradford, district ranger.
