From Times Wire Reports
With rival forces closing in on him, former Madagascan President Didier Ratsiraka fled to the Seychelles with his family, apparently ending more than six months of turmoil in his island nation.
Ratsiraka had ruled Madagascar for more than two decades before losing in a December election to Marc Ravalomanana. Ratsiraka refused to recognize the results, plunging this nation off the east coast of Africa into chaos.
His departure came as forces loyal to Ravalomanana moved in on his stronghold of Toamasina.
