1 Held, 1 Hurt in Fight Over Fireworks
One man was arrested and another hospitalized early Thursday after a fight over fireworks between neighbors ended in a struggle over a loaded pistol, police said.
The 1:30 a.m. confrontation took place after fireworks landed in the patio of Michael Woodward’s home, police said. Woodward, 27, confronted his neighbor, Florian Saylor, 22, outside Saylor’s home on Lugonia Avenue.
Saylor was punched in the jaw and someone tried to hit Woodward with a bottle, police said. Woodward allegedly drew a pistol, and he and Saylor struggled over the gun. One shot was fired, but no one was hit, police said.
Woodward was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Saylor was taken to a hospital with a fractured jaw, police said.
