Group Sues Over Medicaid Programs

Pfizer Inc., Eli Lilly & Co. and other drug makers sued the U.S. government to stop states from steering Medicaid patients toward cheaper medicines.
The drug makers and some patient advocates asked the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to halt programs in Michigan, Florida, Louisiana and as many as nine other states. A Department of Health and Human Services spokesman said Secretary Tommy Thompson “strongly supports†state Medicaid initiatives.
