Jobless Execs Found Work Within 3 Months

U.S. managers and executives who lost their jobs last year found new positions in less than three months, the shortest time on record, according to a survey by Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc.
The 2.7 months’ average search time was the least since the job-placement firm began keeping records in 1986. For job seekers 50 years of age and older, the average search time was 3 months, down from 3.6 months in 2000.
The quarterly survey of 3,000 discharged managers and executives found that jobs were easiest to find in health care, education, government and construction.
The group also found that the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks boosted demand for security workers, law enforcement officers, social workers and defense-industry workers.
