Deputies Kill Driver After Palmdale Chase
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies shot and killed a man after he led them on a 10-minute car chase in Palmdale, authorities said Tuesday.
Raimin Isayo, 28, was stopped by a deputy about 11 p.m. Monday for a broken taillight near Palmdale Boulevard and 15th Street East, said Deputy David Cervantes, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department. When the deputy noticed the car’s ignition had been altered and questioned the driver on the vehicle’s ownership, Isayo drove off, Cervantes said.
Deputies chased Isayo to his estranged wife’s parents’ house in Littlerock. There, his brother and wife approached the car, ignoring warnings from deputies to move aside, Cervantes said.
Deputies fired one round from a beanbag shotgun, hitting the woman. Isayo soon after pointed the gun at his brother, wife and deputies, Cervantes said. Authorities said deputies then fired, striking Isayo in the upper body. .Isayo died at the scene, Cervantes said. No deputies were hurt.
