A 59-year-old Pasadena man was sentenced to a year’s probation for unlawfully possessing machine guns. He also was fined $6,000 and ordered to forfeit the arsenal he estimated to be worth $200,000.
U.S. District Judge Ronald S. W. Lew ordered Leonard W. Hebert to surrender five dozen assault weapons seized at his home and prohibited him from possessing firearms.
The former television engineer pleaded guilty in October to unlawful possession of 11 machine guns.
The weapons were discovered after a robbery suspect crashed into Hebert’s backyard. The officers did not find the suspect in the home, but did uncover the illegal firearms, including converted fully automatic machine guns,
Hebert told federal agents that he had collected firearms for three decades.
