The roof of an electronics plant collapsed, killing at least seven people and injuring 57 others. At least three others were missing, Thai officials said. Most of the victims were women.
The government ordered the Taiwanese company that owns the plant, Delta Electronics, to suspend operations at its factories in Thailand after the roof collapsed at the three-story facility in the Bang Pu industrial park about 20 miles south of Bangkok, the capital.
The roof apparently tore apart under the weight of about 30 tons of air-conditioning equipment, said police Lt. Gen. Pichit Kruanthechkup.
