Coal Mine Fire Kills at Least 25
From Times Wire Reports
A fire at a northeast China coal mine killed at least 25 miners, the official New China News Agency reported.
Rescuers were still searching for four others trapped inside the shaft, the report said.
The fire at the Wanbao coal mine on the outskirts of Taonan, a city in Jilin province, appeared to have been started by machinery that caught fire.
More than 4,250 miners have been killed in China’s coal mines in the first nine months of this year.
