Fellow Teen Backs Student’s Peace Efforts
I have to salute Caitlin Orr for her beliefs against a war on Iraq and also the pro-peace accessories she’s distributing at her school. I too strongly oppose war on Iraq, and I think that giving peace a chance is the right solution to our problems today, regardless of what the government thinks.
I’m happy that a teenager like me is fervently aware of what is happening in our world right now and is standing up for what she believes in. It is rare nowadays to see young people in high school take part in supporting a specific issue.
I am extremely interested in politics, but I feel that my friends are not. Where I go to school, Sunny Hills High, students are more concerned about how hard today’s trigonometry test was than about the threat of war.
Orr is setting an example to other teenagers across America that there is an alternative to war and violence and we should be aware of what is happening around the world, not show concern only about ourselves and our interests. Thank you, Daniel Yi, for showing that there are teenagers who are concerned about current issues.
