A 44-year-old Bellflower man was killed early Saturday when he got out of his overturned car on the Riverside Freeway, then was struck by a hit-and-run driver.
The incident occurred at 2:50 a.m. when a car driven by the victim in the carpool lane became airborne and flipped over on the westbound onramp from State College Boulevard, CHP officials said.
The driver crawled from the overturned car and was hit by a vehicle entering the freeway, killing him instantly. The driver of the second vehicle did not stop.
A female passenger in the overturned car was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange with fractures to her leg, pelvis and ribs.
