Geometry Workshop Offered for Teachers
Cal Lutheran University’s School of Education, in partnership with Cal State Channel Islands, is holding a geometry institute this summer to help train elementary and middle-school teachers.
State education standards now require schools to teach kindergarten through eighth-grade students aspects of geometry. The institute is designed to help teachers deliver these math concepts in an appropriate way for various grade levels.
The sessions will be held June 1 and Aug. 5-9 and will be followed by four Saturday sessions during the school year and 40 hours of work at individual schools. The 50 teachers selected for the institute will be paid an honorarium of $1,000 for participating. Continuing education credit also is available.
