Wildfire Cutting Swath Through National Forest
From Times Wire Reports
Firefighters fought a 2,000-acre wildfire in Coronado National Forest from the air and ground, officials said.
One home was destroyed Friday when the fire started on private land about 15 miles from Sonoita in southern Arizona, but there were no injuries and no new buildings were threatened.
About 180 firefighters were building lines along the sides of the blaze while four air tankers, three helicopters and an attack plane dropped retardant and water on the blaze, which was 30% contained Sunday.
The cause is being investigated.
