Former Argentine Economy Minister Domingo Cavallo, the Wall Street darling toppled last year amid rioting over food, has been charged with weapons smuggling, his lawyer said.
Cavallo was arrested last week on orders of a judge investigating illegal shipments of weapons to Croatia and Ecuador from 1991 to 1995.
Cavallo was one of several ministers who signed decrees ordering arms sales to Panama and Venezuela that ended up illegally in Croatia and Ecuador. He has denied ordering any sales to Croatia in 1991 and ’93 and to Ecuador in 1995.
