Kids’ Tortilla Workshop: Kids ages 6 and older learn how to make corn and flour tortillas, then quesadillas, burritos and tacos in a hands-on environment. A taco party follows. Julia in the Kitchen: Julia Child teams up with the nonprofit corporation FoodWork to present a series of cooking classes in Santa Barbara. The classes raise funds for the HAB Culinary Writers Fund. In this class, Child interviews Stephen Giles, chef of Sage & Onion in Santa Barbara, while he demonstrates how to cook vegetables such as rhubarb, English peas, fiddlehead ferns and morel mushrooms. A reception with small tastes of food and wine follows. Child also signs copies of her books from 3:30 to 6 p.m. At a private residence in Santa Barbara; information given upon registration.
