From Times Wire Reports

Drawn by word of mouth and a desire to share anxieties over devastating attacks by a shadowy enemy, scores of people held a candlelight vigil at the White House.

“I wanted to be with people at this point in time. . . . I wanted to pay tribute to everything that has gone on in the last 24 hours. I wanted some kind of statement of unity for people, for peace,†said Kiersten Moore, 25, a directing intern at a Washington theater.

The crowd, numbering a few hundred, carried lighted candles, sang songs and took turns reciting hopes for the country in the wake of terrorist attacks.
