Toddler Hospitalized After Falling Into Pool

A 21-month-old girl was in critical condition Friday night after falling into her family’s above-ground pool Thursday afternoon when adults watching her were distracted.
Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez said the child, Reanna Martinez, climbed into the 3-foot pool on a ladder that family members thought had been put away.
Two women watching their two small children had apparently gone into the house, thinking both children remained in a safe play area that could be seen from the inside, Martinez said. When they didn’t hear any noise from the children, they went back outside to see if they were all right and found the girl in the pool.
The girl is at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
