Slain British Man Had Been Abducted by Rebels
A British man killed in Colombia last weekend was abducted by rebels from a bus as it traveled in one of the most dangerous areas of the nation.
Officials said backpacker Jeremy Parks, 28, was pulled off the bus en route from a remote provincial capital to Medellin late Saturday.
By Sunday, the graphic artist was dead, killed in a gun battle between rebels and the army. Exactly how he died remains unclear.
A spokeswoman for the federal prosecutor said the National Liberation Army abducted Parks. A British Embassy spokesman said there was no reason to believe that Parks was involved with the rebel group.
