U.S. Court Blocks Edison Settlement

A federal appeals court Tuesday temporarily blocked Southern California Edison’s $3.3-billion settlement with the California Public Utilities Commission designed to restore the utility’s finances.
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals sent the case back to U.S. District Judge Ronald Lew in Los Angeles.
The Utility Reform Network and Los Angeles County oppose the settlement of Edison’s suit against the PUC as harmful to ratepayers and have asked for additional time to address it, but Lew quickly approved the deal Oct. 5.
