Studios Eye Profit Instead of Home Sites
Gee, wouldn’t it be nice if the big entertainment companies would actually stay home to get their work done [“Canada May Drop Studio Tax Breaks,†Oct. 4]. There’s no shortage of people, experience or shooting locations.
However, MGM’s Chris McGurk says the studios have other inexpensive sites in mind, including New Zealand, Mexico, Australia, South Africa and Prague, Czechoslovakia. So it doesn’t seem to matter to these people where they go, as long as they can find a way not to do it at home.
So much for flag-waving patriotism and taking care of our own. How much profit is enough for these mega-companies?
