Final Planned Debate in Governor’s Race Off

News of U.S. attacks in Afghanistan forced the postponement of the final scheduled debate in the Virginia governor’s race between Democrat Mark Warner and Republican Mark L. Earley.
Warner said he would debate again only on Thursday. Earley’s campaign said he would be flexible about timing.
Organizers said if Warner continues to balk at attending their debate at a new time, they would consider holding an “empty-chair debate” with just Earley.
