This Raven Headed in Wrong Direction
Times NFL writer Sam Farmer poses--and answers--the league’s burning questions.
Q: Weirdest injury of the week?
A: Baltimore Raven Coach Brian Billick wound up with a bloody nose after getting head-butted by defensive tackle Tony Siragusa while the two were celebrating a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Q: The second weirdest?
A: Cowboy offensive lineman Aaron Gibson is nursing a painful rib injury--caused by a sneeze.
Q: Does home-field advantage mean anything anymore?
A: Not in the past two weeks, when visiting teams have gone 22-8.
Q: Why won’t the Rams win the Super Bowl?
A: Turnovers. They have 31 so far--nearly twice the league average (18.8)--and their turnover differential is minus-9.
Q: Who is Chicago quarterback Jim Miller leaving off his Christmas-card list?
A: Former Detroit Coach Bobby Ross, who cut Miller in 1998 training camp.
“Quite frankly,†Miller said, “if Bobby Ross was the captain of the Titanic, he’d be the first one in the lifeboat. The guy’s a liar and a loser, and that’s the way I look at him.â€
Otherwise, they’re best friends.
