New York Gets an Early Bit of Christmas Cheer

New York got an 81-foot dose of good cheer Friday, as one of the city’s grandest holiday traditions--a towering Christmas tree--arrived at Rockefeller Center.
The eight-ton tree was harnessed to a giant crane, which lifted it onto its perch overlooking the center’s ice skating rink.
“I think this is some of the first good news we get to have for the holiday season,” said Rockefeller Center gardens manager David Murbach, who has selected the tree for 19 years.
