Despite security concerns, the annual New Year’s Eve celebration on the Las Vegas Strip will feature a huge pyrotechnics show for the second consecutive year, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority announced.
Billing the display as “America’s Party: Las Vegas New Year 2002,” the midnight show on Dec. 31 will last 7 minutes and 11 seconds and feature “designer” fireworks along a five-mile stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard and downtown above the Fremont Street Experience, said show producer and designer Phil Grucci.
Thousands of fireworks choreographed to music that will be simulcast on a local radio station will leap from 15 hotel-casino rooftops and ground locations, Grucci said.
