The Board of Supervisors approved a $1-million construction project for a new kitchen and dining facility at James A. Musick Branch Jail in Irvine.
The sheriff’s office needed a replacement kitchen after the previous facility was condemned due to old age, said Assistant Sheriff John Hewitt.
Of three bids received, 2H Construction Inc. of Long Beach submitted the lowest bid to build 10 modular units. Construction is expected to start in January.
