Parents of Girl Left on Bus All Day File Suit
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The Lompoc Unified School District has been sued for allowing a 14-year-old developmentally disabled girl to sit all day in a school bus.
The parents of Tiffany Dela Cruz allege negligence in the May 17, 2000, incident and seek unspecified damages.
The suit charges that the bus picked up the girl to take her to Lompoc Middle School, but officials failed to get her off the bus and she sat in the locked vehicle for seven hours in the hot sun without food, water, medication or bathroom facilities.
