Man Who Broke Pane Freed After 28 Years
From Times Wire Reports
A Jamaican man has been released after spending more than 28 years behind bars for smashing a pane of glass at a bank.
Officials said that Ivan Boroughs, 76, had not been forgotten but that a court had been slow to act on his case.
Boroughs was charged with malicious destruction of property in December 1972--a charge that carries a maximum sentence of three years. He was deemed mentally ill by court officials and thus unfit to stand trial.
